Size of Lake Nakuru National Park – Lake Nakuru National Park is located in the Great Rift Valley of Eastern Africa. It sits at an elevation of about 1,745 meters above sea level. The park is well known for the large number of flamingos that often gather along the shores of Lake Nakuru. It covers an area of about 188 square kilometers.
Over time, the ecosystem of the park has changed, and this has caused a decrease in the number of flamingos. Still, the park remains one of the best places to see rhinos in Kenya. These large animals can often be seen resting under the shade of acacia trees near the lake.
Nakuru National Park is found in the central part of Kenya, about 3 to 4 hours’ drive west of Nairobi. If you choose to fly, the trip takes about 30 to 40 minutes from Nairobi. There are three main ridges in Lake Nakuru National Park that are perfect for watching wildlife and birds. These raised areas offer great views of the park. Some popular spots on the ridges include Baboon Cliff, Lion Hill, and Out of Africa viewpoint.
The park also has several camping sites, both public and private. You can choose where to stay based on your budget. Whether you want a simple campsite or a more private place, the park offers good options for overnight stays.
