Lake Naivasha in Kenya – Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake located in Nakuru County, just outside the town of Naivasha. Lake Naivasha is located along the old Naivasha Road, about 98 kilometers from Nairobi. It takes around three hours to drive there. This makes it a popular weekend destination for people living in the capital.
The lake is also close to Hell’s Gate National Park, which is less than an hour’s drive away. Many visitors combine trips to both places in one day. At the park, you can enjoy walking safaris, cycling, and visits to geothermal hot springs.
You can travel to Lake Naivasha by private car, tour vehicle, or matatu (a local shared minibus). Matatus are the cheapest option and leave regularly from Nairobi. The lake is located between Nakuru and Nairobi, so you can reach it from either city.
