Detailed 4-Day Samburu & Lake Nakuru Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve
You will be picked up from your hotel in Nairobi and begin your drive to Samburu National Reserve. Along the way, you will cross the Equator. On arrival, check in at your lodge or camp and have lunch.
In the late afternoon, go on your first game drive in Samburu, then return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Full Day in Samburu National Reserve
Spend the whole day exploring Samburu National Reserve. This area is home to rare animals found only north of the Equator, such as the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk, and beisa oryx.
You will also see other animals like kudus, elephants, lions, leopards, and many birds. Drive along the Uaso Nyiro River, where wildlife gathers. Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Samburu to Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, leave Samburu and drive south, crossing the Equator again. You will travel down to the Great Rift Valley to reach Lake Nakuru National Park. Have lunch when you arrive and rest for a short while.
Later in the afternoon, go for a game drive in the park, especially around Lake Nakuru. Look out for the large number of pink flamingos, pelicans, and other birds.
You may also see animals like zebras, rhinos, hippos, waterbucks, reedbucks, buffalos, hyenas, baboons, and lions. Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Nairobi
After breakfast, go on a short morning game drive as you exit the park. Watch for any animals you may have missed earlier.
After the game drive, begin your journey back to Nairobi, marking the end of your safari.
