Lake Nakuru National Park Gates & Opening Hours – Lake Nakuru National Park is located along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway. The park has three main entrance gates: the Old Main Gate, the Lanet Gate, and the Nderit Gate. All gates open at 7:00 am and close at 6:00 pm East African Time.
The Old Main Gate of Lake Nakuru
As the name suggests, this gate has been the main entrance for a long time and is still the most used gate to access the park. It is about 4 kilometers from Nakuru town and is found on the northwestern shores of Lake Nakuru.
This gate offers all the usual park services. These include electronic payment options, park offices, an information center, and a ranger office. If you did not pay for park activities in advance, you can do so at this gate.
Lanet Gate
Lanet Gate is the second most popular entrance to the park. It is also located along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway. If you enter through this gate, you do not need to go into Nakuru town, unlike when using the Old Main Gate. The gate is found on the eastern side of Lake Nakuru National Park.
Just like the other gates, Lanet Gate provides all park services, including electronic payments, an information center, park offices, and a ranger station. You can also pay for your park activities here if you haven’t done so earlier.
Nderit Gate
Nderit Gate is the least known and least used of the three gates. It is mainly used by travelers coming from the Masai Mara or Elementaita conservation areas.
This gate also offers full park services. You will find electronic payment systems, park offices, an information center, and a ranger office.
If you have not yet paid for your activities, you can do so at this gate as well.
