As the name suggests, the Old Main Gate has been the main entrance to Lake Nakuru National Park for many years. It is the most commonly used gate to access the park. The gate is located about 4 kilometers from Nakuru town, on the northwestern side of Lake Nakuru.
The Old Main Gate is well equipped with important services for visitors. It has an office for park staff, an information center, electronic payment systems, and a ranger post. If you need help or have questions about the park, this is a good place to stop. You can also pay for all park activities here if you did not pay before arriving.
The gate is well marked and easy to find. It is used by both local and international tourists. Since it is very close to Nakuru town, many tour companies use this gate for game drives. It also gives quick access to the main attractions of the park, including the lake itself and several animal-viewing areas.
